April 15 thru May 12 – Online Pre-registration for U13 thru U18 Boys and Girls

• Rain make-up dates will be May 23 and/or May 24.  
• Tryouts will ONLY be held on May 23 or May 24 if a make-up date is necessary. 
• A player MUST be present for one of the tryouts on May 19 - May 22 to be eligible to attend a make-up date tryout.
• A player MUST tryout with his/her own age group first prior to trying out for an older age group (playing up).  There are NO exceptions to this policy.

Mandatory Parent/Team Meeting and Jamboree

May 31^st, BB&T Complex

The initial team meetings will be held during the Select Soccer Jamboree on Saturday, May 31^st.  After the scrimmages are held, the parents will attend the mandatory parents’ meeting and then break out into teams for the initial team meeting.  Teams will play scrimmages and parents will participate in mandatory Parent’s Meetings and Team meetings to complete the registration process for the 2008-2009 season.  This event will be held at the BB&T Soccer Complex.   

TRYOUT REGISTRATION FEES

Pre-registration: $25/player or $40/family if you pre-register online
Onsite Registration: $35/player – NO FAMILY DISCOUNT if you wait and register onsite.

1. Every player who seeks to try out for a Columbia United FC team must complete a tryout registration form and pay a tryout fee. Parents are encouraged to pre-register their children online instead of waiting to complete printed tryout applications on site when they arrive for tryouts. If you pre-register your child for tryouts online, you will only pay a tryout fee of $25.00 for one player or $40.00 for any family with two or more siblings trying out for Select or Academy teams. If you show up at tryouts without having already pre-registered your child online by the pre-registration cut-off date discussed below, you will be charged a $35.00 tryout fee per child. There is no family discount for onsite payments.  The tryout fee is nonrefundable.
   

2. To pre-register your child online, the player’s parent must do so before midnight Saturday, May 17, 2008 (i.e.” the cut-off date”). PLEASE NOTE: you may pay your tryout fee with Credit/Debit Card online or if you prefer to pay with check or cash, print your receipt and attach a check made payable to Columbia United FC or cash for the required amount and bring to registration on the first day your child attends tryouts. 
   

3. If you are currently registered with Columbia United FC on a Select or Academy team and have an online account for your child, you will use your existing account to register for tryouts. If you are not currently registered with Columbia United FC on a Select or Academy team, you must first create an online account with Columbia United FC and then you may register your child for tryouts.
   

4. If you do not pre-register online for tryouts before the cut-off date, you will be required to register onsite on the first night the player attends tryouts. After completing all paperwork onsite, you will need to pay a $30 onsite Registration Tryout Fee. You can pay by check made payable to Columbia United FC or you may pay in cash. There will be NO FAMILY discount with onsite registration.
   

5. Before any player may participate in tryouts, a parent or legal guardian must accept the Liability Release/Parent Agreement if pre-registering online or must sign the Liability Release/Parent Agreement if registering onsite. 
   

6. Each player must be registered for tryouts in the correct age group for his or her age which is based upon his or her date of birth. (See “Age Group Chart” below.)   Additionally, regardless of the 2007-2008 team you may have played on, EVERY player must try out with his or her own age group on the first night he/she attends tryouts.   On the second day of tryouts for his or her age group, players may try out for an upper age group.   A player seeking to tryout for an age group that is two or more years higher than his or her age must first obtain written permission from both Directors of Soccer. The requesting player’s size, weight, strength and skill will be evaluated so as to satisfy player health and safety concerns. The final decision as to whether an individual player will be selected for a team that will be playing in an age group that is higher than his or her actual age group will be made by the Directors of Soccer following consultation with tryout evaluators.
   
   NOTE: Any player or parent who misrepresents the true age of a player at tryouts will be disqualified from playing-up. 
   

7. All players MUST attend two nights of tryout sessions and/or notify Elaine Simpson at registration and the age group tryout evaluator as to the reason he/she will not be at both sessions.
   

8. Tryout sessions will be conducted by a selection of the Club’s Elite, Palmetto and Crescent coaches with the Directors of Soccer, Director of Academy and Goalkeeping Director assisting as determined by the Directors of Soccer. Players will be assessed by way of small-sided and/or full-sided play and skill drills.
