South Carolina United FC Event Brings Big Boost to Midlands Economy

South Carolina United FC recently hosted the ECNL Girls Regional League South Carolina event at the SCUFC Southeastern Freight Lines Soccer Complex and the SCUFC West Soccer Complex on December 9-11, 2022.  This 3 day highly competitive soccer event not only showcased some of the Regional Leagues top clubs and talent from across the country, but also had a major impact on Columbia’s restaurants, shops, and hotels.

South Carolina United FC is a community partner committed to giving back.  Hosting national events like these are one way the club is making a difference in the community.  The ECNL Girls Regional League South Carolina event was an excellent boost for businesses in the area.  Because of this event, there was an estimated 3,500 additional hotel nights or approximately $600,000 spent in hotel fees. The event also largely impacted the restaurant sector, with an estimated 4,000 event attendees dining in the Columbia area for 3 days.

We look forward to bringing more events to the Midlands as we continue to look for additional ways to enhance our member experiences and community endeavors.”

ECNL Girls Regional League South Carolina is a national event featuring 102 teams from the U15-U18/19 age groups, including 38 clubs from 13 different ECNL Girls Regional Leagues. There were also 58 college scouts in attendance to watch some of the nation’s brightest young talent.

The Elite Clubs National League (ECNL), founded in 2009, hosts competition events for youth soccer players and their families. ECNL is the top female youth development platform in the world that is committed to improving the daily environment for American elite female youth soccer players.
