Columbia United FC again raises the bar in support of  South Carolina high school soccer.  In addition to being the named corporate sponsor of the Second Annual Clash of the Carolinas Soccer Classic (July 12, 2008, Blackbaud Stadium, Daniel Island, SC) which pits North Carolina’s best boys and girls soccer players against those from South Carolina, Columbia United FC has recently agreed to become the named corporate sponsor of the annual North South Soccer Classic (June 14, 2008, USC Upstate).

"The outpouring of appreciation we received last year by parents, players and parents who participated in the Columbia United FC Clash of the Carolinas Classic held at Blackbaud Stadium on Daniel Island was both genuine and incredible.  The consistent comment we heard was ’This is just unheard of - a youth soccer club that actually works with and supports high school soccer programs?  I think it is great!’"  said Steve Birnie, Columbia United FC’s Director of Events. 

"When the opportunity came along to provide similar support for the North South Soccer Classic wherein the South Carolina’s best high school players from the upstate region compete against those from the lower part of South Carolina, the decision of the Board was easy", said Birnie.  That, coupled with the club having agreed to give once again give to the booster clubs of  37 area high schools soccer programs over $11,100 in the form of  corporate sponsorship and advertising along with a pledge to each of the 37 schools’ boys’ and  girls’ teams to receive a complimentary 90 minute training session on a topic of the coaches’ choice conducted by one of our best youth soccer trainers, USSF “A” licensed coach, Greg Vallee, evidences our club’s continued desire to honor its mission to give back to the soccer community it serves.  

At Columbia United FC, we know that by providing an excellent club soccer program from top to bottom our area high school soccer teams will become even stronger in years ahead.  For those knowledgeable about club soccer, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that  the Spring Valley High School Boys Varsity soccer team from right here in Columbia, South Carolina is currently ranked #1 in the United States by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, as has been Irmo High School,  Ridge View High School and other programs from across the area in years past. 

And so all of this is to say to all area high school players and parents who are members of our club, whether your high school team is ranked # 1 in your division, your region, the state or the nation, or is striving to get there by having its players work during the club season to become the best it can be, Columbia United FC thanks you for your confidence, for your continued support and for the opportunity you provide our coaches and trainers to continue to develop your children into becoming the student-athlete they desire to be.  Good luck to all as the high school state playoffs begin!
