The 96 Boys Elite team travelled to Winston Salem, NC, on August 21-23, 2009, to compete in the 2009 Twin City Classic.  This was the first time all 16 players had been together as a team and they worked together to bring home the champions medals!

The team, coached by Rob Strickland, faced the Burlington Soccer Club 96 Cardinal team first and came out with a 5-1 win.  They next played a strong Triangle United 96 Green team and prevailed with a 5-3 win.  On Sunday morning, they matched up with New River Rapid Blue (VA) and won 6-1.  The final was played on Sunday afternoon under the blazing sun against Gaston United 96 Blue.  It was a hard-fought battle that was settled in PKs with 2 glorious saves by our keeper.  Great start to the fall 2009 season!
