CEO's Message

June 2017

Welcome to South Carolina United FC

As the largest youth soccer club in the State of South Carolina serving players ages U4-U19, we offer quality soccer programs for any child who desires to play soccer at a level commensurate with his or her abilities regardless of race, religion or socio-economic background. Our "One Community-One Club-One Passion-All Youth-All Levels-All Soccer" brand is one we take extreme pride in as we strive to make a positive impact on the lives of children and young adults through their involvement in the beautiful game of soccer. Based in the capital city of Columbia located centrally in our state in Richland County, our players come to Columbia from more than half of South Carolina’s 46 counties and beyond to wear the badge of “Passion, Pride and Performance”

Our is a highly organized club which provides (a) introductory/basic participation programming to first time players in our massive in-house South Carolina United YMCA Recreational Youth Soccer League (Recreation), (b) highly Competitive (travel) Team play which best fits each U8-U19 player’s current developmental needs, (c) individual ball skill mastery and individual tactical, strength and conditioning programming within our SCUFC Training Corps, (d) our U23 Premier Development League (PDL) team which provided the country’s most elite college age male players the opportunity to pursue their dream through exposure to the next level. And in addition, as part of our recreational programming, our wonderful Strikers program provides youth soccer opportunities to children with disabilities and special needs.

Since 2005, we have had over 280 players go on to play NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III soccer, NAIA soccer and Junior College soccer and have had players invited to various USYSA Region III and USSF National team camps and international competitions. In addition, our U17 – U19 players have direct access to be evaluated for roster slots on our SC United Bantams U23 PDL team by way of invitation into our Bantams II summer training session which is a program within our SCUFC Training Corps. Former Charleston Battery professional Zack Prince and current USL professionals Braeden Troyer of the Richmond Kickers and Luke Waechter of the Charlotte Independence all played for us as youth. Most recently, our own U16 player Grayson Barber, is now playing in residency with MLS Sporting Kansas City and our own Kasey Parker, (SCUFC ’97 Elite), South Carolina’s most recent two-time South Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year, is a rising sophomore playing for legendary coach Anson Dorance at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. Additionally, our own Marcello Malpartida, a College of Charleston commitment, is the current South Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year as well.

Consistent with our non-profit mission, we take pride in the fact that no player has ever been denied the ability to play for our club because he or she cannot afford to play. Through generous support from our quality sponsors like BB&T of South Carolina, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of South Carolina, Under Armour and our many charitable donors, our non-profit organization is able to provide financial assistance to families who truly need such help to enable their children to participate.

In 2017 and 2018, you will see even more organizational changes and facility improvements and opening as we continue to evolve and improve our service for our players and their families. With the implementation of our SCUFC Training Corps programming, we will once again be offering Value Added Training for U6 and U7 players in our SCUFC/YMCA Recreational League. We will continue to place an emphasis on improving both coaching development and player development at all levels within our organization. And over the next few months we will be finalizing construction of our new 24 acre five (5) field soccer training complex (currently referred to as “Project Training”) which will permit us to further serve our Competitive Soccer players and their families at one central location conveniently located near the intersection of I-20 and Monticello Road.

To those players and parents who have always called us "home", thank you so much for your loyalty and support. We certainly would not be where we are today (and headed tomorrow) without you! To those of you who may be visiting our website for the first time, thank you for taking a look. If you are intrigued by what you see and would like to learn more, please click on our Club Contacts link and feel free to email or call any member of our Soccer Leadership team and they will be more than happy to speak with you!

At South Carolina United FC, Our Club is Your Club.
